NBA 2K21 Xbox - How to Invite a Friend To Play

To launch NBA 2K20 press your controller’s glowing Xbox logo button to bring up the Xbox main menu.

Use the left stick to move down to “My games & apps” and select it by pressing “A”.

Next select “See All”. This will bring you to the “Games” page.  Use the left stick to navigate to and select NBA 2K20. 

(:28) Once in NBA 2K20, select the “Play Now” option found on the top left of the screen header. Use the left stick to move to select the game type “Play with Friends Online” from the list.

Use the left stick to scroll to “Play with Friends Online” and select it. This will bring up the player Locker Room and displays which of your friends are currently online. 

(:46) When a friend is online, their Gamertag will appear on the right-hand side of your screen under “Friends Online”. Using the left stick move to their Gamertag and press the “A” button. This will give you the option to either invite them to the locker room or view their gamer card. Press “A” on invite to the locker room.

(1:06) When your opponent accepts your invitation, their Gamertag will move to “In the Locker Room”. Next press the button with three horizontal lines, located below the glowing Xbox logo on your controller to advance to the next menu. From this menu, you are able to customize your game settings, make sure you match the game setting to Rival's specified settings.

(1:30) Press the Menu button, the one with the three horizontal lines, to continue onto the Team Select screen.  This screen is where you are able to choose the team you will play as in the game.  To cycle through all available teams, use the right or left triggers on your controller. 

Once both players have selected their teams, the game will automatically begin.
