In the event that an incorrect ruleset is loaded on the server, the match should be stopped and reset. Previously played maps with the incorrect format will not count towards the series win/loss total.

Swapping Rosters: Teams are not allowed to substitute players until an in-progress match has been fully completed (meaning the map has been played fully). Teams may substitute players any time between maps within a reasonable time frame.

Both teams participating in a match must provide 6 players at the beginning of the first game, and 6 for each consecutive game. During a game, if a team does not have at least 6 players, that team will forfeit the remainder of the game to the opposing team. If a team is not able to field the required number of players for additional games in the series, then they will forfeit the remainder of the match. Specific rules may apply and supersede the general Rival rules for each event and will be found in that event's RULES tab.

In Best of Series, the Game 1 map will be pre-selected by the Rival.  If no Game 1 map has been specified by Rival, the Home Team chooses the first map to play. In the following games, the loser of the previous game will select the map for the next game mode. The winner of the previous game will choose if they start off on the attack (RED) or defense (BLUE). If the rotation goes to round 5 the loser of game 4 will choose a Control map that was not previous played in round 1.

In the event of a draw on any given map, neither team will be rewarded a win. The match will continue on until one team reaches the required amount of map wins in order to claim victory.

Each match will have the following game modes in this order: Control / Hybrid / Assault / Escort / Control.  Same order for a best of 3 series, with the last two modes not being played.

The game may only be paused for the following reasons: player drops, player disconnects, server crash, technical issues, Rival instruction.

Stoppage of play may be requested at any time for the above reasons. The match host (person who created the match lobby and therefore has pausing privileges) must initiate a pause when a team requests it so long as the pause is not called during combat, while the objective is contested, or during overtime. Each team will have 5 total minutes of pause time per map. Players pause the game using the key combination Ctrl + Shift + =. Abuse of the auto-pause feature may result in punishment for the team abusing it.

Both teams participating in a match must provide a minimum of 6 players at the beginning of the first game, and 6 for each consecutive game. During a game, if a team does not have at least 6 players, that team will forfeit the remainder of the game to the opposing team. If a team is not able to field the required number of players for additional games in the series, then they will forfeit the remainder of the match.

A team must have a minimum of six (6) players to be eligible.  A team may also include additional players that may be used as substitutes when allowed. Each event may have specific rules regarding substitutions and roster locks.  Players may only play for one single team during the course of an event or tournament.  Player’s may change teams at any time prior to either the start of an event or the event’s roster lock date, whichever is the earliest. The team member who joins the team into an event will be deemed the Team Captain. The Team Captain is responsible for managing the team’s official roster and ensuring their team is ready and available for gameplay as required.

For events with a Roster Lock date enforced, If a player(s) is found to be ineligible prior to the roster lock date of an event, the team may replace them with a substitute player(s).  If a player is found to be ineligible after the roster lock date, the team may only use a substitute player with Rival’s prior written approval.  If a player on a team is found to be ineligible after the start time of the event, the team will be disqualified and forfeit all matches in the event.
